Tasty sh*t
So, I’m back from my spring fling as the director of the Camp Arowhon Outdoor Centre. What, you may ask, does this have to do with ants eating the left-overs of some animal’s digestive tract? Well, on the surface, not much other than I took the photo while at camp.
Directing and being at camp was a nice break from the academic life, but was work none-the-less. Different, and it exercised different muscles than normal, but I certainly felt older: up at 7 and bed at 11, working for most of that time left me tired. Being in charge means stressing about things (minimal, silly things), but stressing no matter how minor. All of it combined to running out of steam at times, usually about 3 in the afternoon.
I now get to rest for three nights in Toronto before I make my grand escape to the Yukon and Alaska. With that completed, I will have finished my 12 week odyssey that has seen me start my PhD field research, travel to the North and direct an outdoor centre in Algonquin Park. Whew!

About me
I am an education researcher and practitioner, with a focus on higher education and the environment. I consider myself, above all, a naturalist. I'm the pack-mate of two border terriers. I live within the Speed River Watershed in Guelph, Ontario. I enjoy photography. I lead nature tours across North America. I teach courses on Natural History. I likely spend too much time on the Internet.
Oh, and the opinions expressed here are wholly my own.
