With my transition to Associate Director (eLearning) at Western’s Teaching Support Centre, I have worked to enhance my own development as a manager and as a leader. Participating in Western’s year-long Foundational Leadership Program is one component of my on-going work in this domain.
As a result of my participation and based upon feedback from direct reports and colleagues, the following leadership practices were identified as my most frequent behaviours:
- I follow through on promises and commitments I make.
- I treat others with dignity and respect.
- I support the decisions that people make on their own.
- I make certain that achievable goals are set, make concrete plans and establish milestones for the projects we work on.
I also continue to work on asking for feedback from my colleagues and direct reports on how my actions affect others’ performance.
