Herbie comes, Ollie plays

Had a great weekend at Camp. Ollie went for his first swim and canoe ride! Have a look at the rest of the photos.

Hello Scotty Loeb, my audience of one.

It was a pleasant surprise (OK, just mostly surprising) to log into WordPress (the magic behind this web-page) and see that I had an incoming link from another blog. Since I provide no compelling reasons for people to make this any kind of a destination on the web, and because I’m a closet internet megalomaniac (yes, I Google Gavan often), it was a heart-warming moment.

Now this has happened before, but I’m usually the target of some kind of blog spam (see here, for example, but for the love of god don’t click any of the links). To find out that a living, breathing human made a link made my day.

And for that, Scotty Loeb, I salute you (and link back).

It’s been a big walk for a little guy; Gavan offers some transportation.

A nice shot of Ollie and I, courtesy of my Dad.

MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen is my guilty pleasure

MTV made it’s Canadian debut within the last three months or so. I don’t think that I’m the demographic they’re aiming for, but I simply love to hate a reality show called My Super Sweet Sixteen. I watch with my mouth agog. I see it as symbolizing all the bad that’s wrong with North America in general and rich, white American sixteen-year-olds specifically. I suggest you spend your next Wednesday night at 10:00 watching it and screaming at the television.

Seems like I’m not alone.

Birding in the ‘hood

Went for a long walk with Heather and Ollie today. While being annoyed by dog owners who have their dog off-leash, let the dog run up to Ollie and then say: “He’s not good with Puppies”, I did manage to enjoy some spring migrants. My morning list highlights:

  • Baltimore Oriole
  • Yellow-rumped Warbler
  • A Verio of some sort
  • Black and White Warbler
  • Black-throated Green Warbler
  • Black-throated Blue
  • Redstart

The busiest spot was on the Davenport hill just below Casa Loma and Spadina House. Not suprising given that it’s the best habitat for migrants in the area.

This was a nice follow-up from the birding trip that my Dad and I took at the beginning of the month. I took some neat-o photographs, so feel free to have a look-see.
